Pulp Conventions

There are more gatherings for pulp fans nowadays than there were just a few years ago. Attending one of these conventions can be a lot of fun, and offers a great opportunity to meet other folks who share your interest in pulps. And the thrill of seeing so many pulp magazines gathered under one roof is hard to describe!

Pulp-focused conventions are scattered around the country, so you can probably find one that's reasonably close to you. Here are just a few:

PulpCon
The original. Check out the basics at http://www.pulpcon.org.

The Windy City Pulp & Paperback Convention
Takes place in Chicago, naturally. This convention is relatively young, but has grown quickly. Cat Jaster, one of the con's founders, offers lots of info about the show at her site, http://members.aol.com/wcpps/index.html. In fact, Cat keeps a nicely updated page on her site about all sorts of related conventions. It's excellent and worth checking out: http://members.aol.com/edbondbooks/pulpcons.html.

Pulp AdventureCon
This is another relatively young convention, based in New Jersey. A nice selection of dealers is usually available at this show. You'll find for info about the upcoming show at the Bold Venture Press site: http://members.aol.com/boldventurepress/pacon.html.

Fantastic Pulps Show & Sale
A tad farther north is this convention, which has been going a bit longer than the preceding shows, but is still less than 10 years old. Let your pulp hobby give you an excuse to visit Toronto, Ontario. You'll find out more from the Girasol Collectables site, where you'll also find original pulps and reprints for sale: http://www.girasolcollectables.com/.
